Telehealth Appointments
Being able to access therapy from your home or office is one remaining perk from the pandemic. While this can be more convenient and comfortable for some, it can pose its own challenges. See some tips below to help make the most of telehealth sessions.
Telehealth Tips
-
You will receive a link from the Simple Practice platform about 5 to 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
-
You need to give permission for the mic and video to use the platform.
-
Privacy becomes your responsibility. Please make sure you have a quiet, private space. Consider purchasing an inexpensive sound machine for outside the door of the room you will be in. I am happy to provide more information on this if needed.
-
Avoid holding the device you will be using for your appointments. Rather find a place to set it down or prop it on. This makes for a more relaxing and natural experience.
-
Please get comfortable! Have your water/beverage nearby and perhaps some tissues if needed.
-
Meeting from one's car is less than ideal, but when needed please note that some devices overheat. Wifi connections are often poor. Making every attempt to be in a secure indoor environment is optimal for therapy engagement.
-
If disruption happens during the appointment, please "hang up" and use the link to connect again. Please know that if we do not reconnect in a timely manner, I will call you.
-
I do not allow for changing of your background or blurring options. It is a safety concern.
-
If you are uncomfortable seeing yourself on video, there is a "hide" option so that you do not need to see your own image.
-
Please do not hesitate to ask any technical questions about telehealth and I will do my best to answer them.
